Mass shootings continue to devastate communities across America, leaving us searching for answers. While we grapple with these tragedies today, the Bible promises a future free from such violence.

The reality of mass shootings has become disturbingly routine in our society. In 2022 alone, eight mass shootings resulted in five or more deaths. Using the common definition of four or more victims wounded by gunfire, there have been more mass shootings than days in the year.

While debates about gun control and security measures continue, these solutions cannot address the core issue: the human heart.

A Future Without Violence

The Bible describes a coming time when violence will be eliminated completely. The book of Hebrews speaks of faithful followers who viewed themselves as "strangers and pilgrims on the earth" (Hebrews 11:13-14), citizens of a future kingdom where God's laws will prevail.

The apostle John's vision in Revelation describes this future: "God will wipe away every tear from their eyes; there shall be no more death, nor sorrow, nor crying. There shall be no more pain, for the former things have passed away" (Revelation 21:4).

Requirements for Entry

This peaceful future isn't automatic - it requires following God's commandments. Revelation 22:14-15 states that only those who "do His commandments" will have access to this kingdom, while those who practice evil will be excluded.

Currently, our world remains "under the sway of the wicked one" (1 John 5:19), but this influence is temporary. God promises a future where violence, including mass shootings, will become history.
