Her path to the throne was unexpected. Born third in line, she became heir apparent at age 10 when her uncle Edward VIII abdicated and her father became King George VI. This twist of fate proved fortuitous, as her father's moral leadership helped guide Britain through World War II.

During WWII, Elizabeth joined the Auxiliary Territorial Service at age 19, serving as an auto mechanic. She remains the only female royal to have served in the military.

Her greatest legacy lies not in her titles or records, but in her unwavering commitment to service. Through family controversies and national challenges, she remained steadfast to her duty, exemplifying her family's motto: "I serve."

Even after her husband Prince Philip's death in 2021, she resumed royal duties within four days, demonstrating her lifelong dedication to putting duty above self.

Her legacy will continue to inspire generations through her example of selfless service, dignity, and unwavering commitment to duty.
