Let's reflect on the profound meaning of Jesus's birth and His purpose for coming to Earth. This message takes on special significance, especially when shared by someone born on Christmas Day.

Born in a German hospital in 1966 on December 25th, sharing a birthday with Jesus has provided unique perspectives on the significance of this day. While childhood brought occasional feelings of being overshadowed by Christmas celebrations, maturity has transformed this into a profound honor of sharing this special date with our Savior.

Scripture beautifully captures Jesus's purpose:

"For the Son of Man came to seek and save the lost." (Luke 19:10, NIV)

"...just as the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many." (Matthew 20:28, NIV)

"The Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us. We have seen his glory, the glory of the one and only Son, who came from the Father, full of grace and truth." (John 1:14, NIV)

These verses reveal three fundamental truths about Jesus's coming:

  • He came to find you
  • He came to serve you
  • He came to show you His glory

Just as a mother's love makes every sacrifice "worth it" for her child, Jesus's sacrifice demonstrates that you were worth everything to Him. His birth was more than a miracle; it was the beginning of God's plan to offer salvation to all humanity.

Let us pray:

Jesus, thank You for coming on Christmas. Thank You for temporarily leaving Your heavenly throne to draw near to us. Your humble sacrifice reminds us that we were truly worth it. May Your love fill our hearts with hope, joy, peace, and love this Christmas season. Amen.
