Global civilization could face an imminent collapse, according to a NASA-funded scientific study led by mathematician Safa Motesharrei. The research examines historical patterns that led to the downfall of major civilizations like the Roman, Han, Mauryan, and Gupta Empires.

The study identifies two critical factors that could trigger societal collapse:

• Economic inequality between elites and masses

According to the researchers, one likely scenario involves wealthy elites consuming excessive resources, leading to widespread famine among common people. The collapse would stem from a loss of workers rather than environmental devastation.
