The Definition of Marriage: Can Humans Really Change What God Created?
Same-sex marriage has transformed American society, driven by systematic influence from media, entertainment, and activism. Recent polls show majority support, with 57% of Catholics and 55% of Protestants now favoring same-sex marriage, marking a significant shift in public opinion.

This change didn't occur naturally but through calculated efforts to normalize same-sex relationships, particularly through entertainment media progression:
- Early shows featuring pretend homosexual characters
- Gradual introduction of same-sex physical affection
- Prominent characters coming out
- Programs centered on openly gay characters
- Explicit content on cable television
The transformation is particularly pronounced among Millennials, with 72% supporting same-sex marriage. This demographic shift suggests continued momentum for LGBTQ+ rights as younger generations assume leadership positions.
However, the biblical perspective maintains that marriage isn't a human construct to define. Scripture presents marriage as a divine institution between man and woman, established in Genesis and reaffirmed by Jesus in Matthew 19:4-6: "He who made them at the beginning made them male and female... and the two shall become one flesh."
Traditional marriage serves specific purposes:
- Provides stable framework for raising children
- Ensures balanced parental influence
- Maintains societal continuity
- Fulfills divine design for human relationships
From a biblical standpoint, same-sex unions cannot constitute marriage regardless of legal recognition. Romans 1:26-32 explicitly addresses this deviation from divine intent, while Proverbs 14:12 warns about following human reasoning over divine guidance: "There is a way that seems right to a man, but its end is the way of death."
