Are you feeling cornered and alone with your problems? Take heart in the powerful story of Elijah from 1 Kings 18.

When Elijah was accused of bringing disaster upon Israel, he remained remarkably calm despite being severely outnumbered. As he stated, "I am the only prophet of the Lord who is left, but Baal has 450 prophets" (1 Kings 18:22 NLT).

Instead of feeling intimidated, Elijah confidently proposed a challenge. He suggested that both he and the prophets of Baal prepare sacrifices, declaring "The god who answers with fire is the true God" (1 Kings 18:24 NLT).

His confidence was so complete that he even mocked the prophets of Baal when their prayers went unanswered: "You'll have to shout louder... Perhaps he is daydreaming, or is relieving himself. Or maybe he is away on a trip, or is asleep and needs to be woken up!" (1 Kings 18:27 NLT)

Why was Elijah so relaxed in the face of overwhelming odds? Because he had complete trust in God's power and providence. He knew with absolute certainty that God would answer his prayer in a way that would work for good.

Remember: You are neither alone nor powerless. The size of your problem is insignificant compared to the magnitude of your God. When you trust in the power of prayer and rely on Him completely, God will always work for your highest good.

You are a miracle, backed by the ultimate miracle worker.
