For over 2,000 years, Easter has been celebrated as the resurrection of Jesus Christ - an event that transformed history and continues to impact billions of lives today.

Jesus, a religious teacher in ancient Israel, was welcomed into Jerusalem as a hero but quickly faced opposition from religious authorities. Betrayed by his friend Judas, he was arrested, tortured, and crucified on what is now known as Good Friday. His followers buried him in a tomb, but three days later, something extraordinary happened.

According to biblical accounts, women visiting Jesus' tomb found it empty on Sunday morning. The large stone sealing the entrance had been moved, and Jesus' body was gone. Mary Magdalene became the first person to encounter the risen Jesus, though she initially mistook him for a gardener. When she shared this news with Jesus' disciples, they were skeptical.

The Bible records multiple appearances of Jesus after his resurrection. He appeared to his disciples behind locked doors, showing them his wounds and giving them a mission to spread his message. Over 500 people reportedly saw him alive after his death.

The disciples, once fearful and doubtful, became bold messengers of this news. They traveled across Asia, Persia, Ethiopia, India, and Europe, sharing their eyewitness accounts despite facing persecution and death. Most were eventually killed for their beliefs, yet they never recanted their testimony.

Today, more than 2.3 billion Christians worldwide believe in Jesus' resurrection. While modern Easter celebrations include non-biblical traditions like eggs and bunnies (which emerged from various cultural influences), the core message remains: Christians believe Jesus defeated death and offers new life to all who believe.

Whether you view the Easter story as historical truth or religious symbolism, its impact on human history is undeniable. The question of its authenticity remains personal: is it a true story or a brilliant lie? That's for each individual to decide.
