Scientists at Caltech discovered evidence of a previously unknown planet in our solar system, nicknamed Planet Nine. Though never directly observed, its existence is implied through the unusual orbits of objects in the Kuiper Belt.

Researchers Mike Brown and Konstantin Batygin found that the eccentric orbits of certain Kuiper Belt objects could only be explained by the gravitational influence of a massive planet with an unusual orbit. The probability of these orbits occurring randomly is merely 0.007%.

This discovery parallels our understanding of God's existence. While we cannot directly observe God, evidence of His influence appears throughout the universe:

  1. The Origin of the Universe
  • The Big Bang theory requires a cause outside of time and space
  • Alternative theories lack evidence and often seem designed to avoid divine involvement
  1. Scientific Evidence
  • The precise balance of universal forces
  • Complex chemical reactions necessary for life
  • Irreducibly complex biological systems

The apostle Paul wrote that "His invisible attributes are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made" (Romans 1:20). Like Planet Nine's gravitational effects on nearby objects, God's influence can be detected through careful observation of creation.

For those seeking God, He promises: "You will seek Me and find Me, when you search for Me with all your heart" (Jeremiah 29:12-14). The universe contains abundant evidence of intelligent design, suggesting a Creator who wants to be known by His creation.

Just as scientists discovered Planet Nine through its effects on surrounding objects, we can discover God through His effects on creation. The implications of finding God far exceed those of finding a new planet, as it leads to understanding our purpose and relationship with our Creator.
