Why Reading Through the Bible in 2021 Remains Essential in Unpredictable Times

Bible reading was challenging in 2020's unprecedented circumstances, yet this reinforced the importance of God's Word during uncertain times. While many found their Bible reading habits disrupted by the pandemic, TGC's Bible reading initiative proved timely and necessary.

The value of Bible reading became especially clear as 2020 brought unexpected challenges. Despite job changes, home confinement, and personal losses, Scripture remained constant - "the word of our God will stand forever" (Isaiah 40:8).

For those who completed the M'Cheyne reading plan in 2020, it provided spiritual nourishment and helpful distraction from worldly concerns. Those who struggled shouldn't feel condemned but should remain committed to engaging with Scripture, as Jesus warned against letting worldly cares crowd out God's Word (Matthew 13:22).

Looking ahead to 2021, TGC will again partner with Crossway to support Bible reading through:

  • M'Cheyne's Bible reading plan (covering the entire Bible in one year)
  • Daily newsletter featuring Don Carson's devotional reflections
  • Podcast readings of Carson's "For the Love of God"
  • Online articles aligned with weekly readings
  • Facebook group for accountability and discussion

While starting a Bible reading plan may seem daunting after 2020's disruptions, consistent Scripture reading remains valuable regardless of circumstances. No Christian who commits to reading through the Bible in 2021 will regret that decision.
